The complaint made to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the dharna he staged in front of the CEO’s office at the Secretariat was a “drama” to cover-up the code violations committed by him, alleged the YSRCP.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday, YSRCP general secretary M.V.S. Nagireddy said the letter Mr. Naidu released after the closure of campaign on his official letter head was a violation of the code.
Mr. Nagireddy said even the letter submitted to the CEO on his official letter head by Mr. Naidu was also a violation. The Chief Minister’s post should be used only for governance and not for asking people to vote, he said.
Mr. Naidu, speaking about the murder of former MP Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy even after the High Court put a ban on it, was also a violation, he pointed out. Going to the Secretariat with party flags was another violation. The dharna was also against the code. A person of the stature of a CM staging a dharna in front of the CEO’s office was tantamount to disturbing law and order, he said.
