Jack Sefrino allowed four hits and one unearned run in six innings and went 2-for-3 with a run batted in as Bishop Stang (6-0) completed its pre-vacation schedule perfect by defeating Coyle & Cassidy 8-1 in Eastern Athletic Conference baseball on Thursday at Hopewell Park in Taunton.

Sefrino struck out six and walked one.

The Spartans' Luke Bala was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. Stang also got notable offensive contributions from Seamus Marshall (1-for-1, RBI), Hayden Duke (2-for-4, RBI), Dalton Pinto (1-for-4, RBI), Eric Payette (1-for-4, RBI, run), Max Brulport (1-for-3, run) and Frankie Manon (hit, run).

The Spartans (11 hits) next play April 23 at Dartmouth.

Avon 5, Westport 2: At Avon, eighth grader Max Mendell, the losing pitcher, went 1-for-3 with a run and stolen base in this Mayflower Athletic Conference loss.

The Wildcats (0-3) were held to three hits. Nick Arruda was 1-for-3 with a run and Conor Lecomte 1-for-2 with a walk.

On the mound, Mendell posted fours across the board — 4 innings pitched, 4 runs, 4 earned runs, 4 walks, 4 strikeouts.
