Vadodara: A city-based group has questioned the expenses proposed to be made for tent house works to be done at the M S University (MSU) polytechnic for the polls. The polytechnic is used as a strongroom to keep EVMs and for counting of votes.
The group ‘Team Revolution’ submitted a memorandum to the district administration stating that the rentals arrived at after tendering process for various items were higher than their prices.

It has given the example of six such items to the district administration and stated that it was pointing out the anomalies in advance so that extra expenses could be avoided.

The group has stated that it had kept an eye on the expenses as it had come to know of expenses made during the 2017 assembly polls. The memorandum submitted by the group states that the rates of 51 different works were fixed for the work at the polytechnic.

Shwejal Vyas from the group stated that their calculations revealed that the expense for six different items revealed that their prices totalled to Rs 3.65lakh while the agency that took up the work had quoted Rs 28.36lakh towards their rent. The memorandum states that this implied that an extra expense of Rs 24.61lakh was being made for the work.

The group has factored the prices and rentals of barricades to be erected using tin sheets, normal halogen lights and while metal halogen lights.

Six different works are to be conducted using these items at the polytechnic.
