Shops down shutters against stay on crematorium work

Tirupur: More 1,500 commercial establishments downed shutters condemning the district administration for restraining them from establishing an electric crematorium in a government-gifted land in Palladam in the district on Thursday.
The crematorium was being constructed in the two-acre land at Venkitapuram in Panikkampatti panchayat, on Palladam-Pollachi Road. But block development officer stopped the construction work, citing lack of DTCP approval.
Meanwhile, two motorcycle-borne miscreants pelted stones and broke the window of a TNSTC bus plying between Madurai and Coimbatore near Rajiv Colony in Palladam on Thursday.TNN
