(Bloomberg) -- Sudan’s army plans to make an important statement as military officers were seen surrounding the presidential palace in Khartoum.

State radio announced Thursday morning that a statement from the Sudanese national army was imminent. It came as Sudan President Omar al-Bashir’s supporters planned a rally to defend his rule.
