Nagpur: After top politicians of major national parties, it was the turn of Vidarbha protagonist Shreehari Aney to visit the much-loved mini-forest Bharat Van on Thursday.
The former advocate general visited the area on an invitation from Sandesh Singalkar, leader of citizens’ group Vidarbha Connect. Aney

carried out spot inspection of the lush green forest and heard the demands of residents and environmentalists who have been fighting to save the area for the last four months.

Talking to TOI, Aney said, “I found their case to be genuine and explained to them certain aspects. I advised them to file an intervention petition in the court as they have a very strong case. The forest must be saved for maintaining city’s depleting green cover.”

Aney said that he will not be able to fight the case as it will be difficult for him to move to Nagpur from Mumbai. However, he assured to extend guidance to the residents.

Recently, Congress Lok Sabha candidate Nana Patole and son of Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari had visited Bharat Van.
