The Election Commission has questioned the govt over electoral bond scheme. The govt has mentioned that electoral bond scheme for political funding is a policy decision. The govt said that it can't be 'faulted' for taking the decision, the Centre told the Supreme Court. The apex court has reserved its order on a PIL challenging the validity of electoral bonds. NGO, Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), has filed a plea challenging the validity of the scheme. The NGO has sought interim relief including that either the issuance of electoral bonds be stayed or the names of the donors be made public to ensure transparency in the poll process. The EC had opposed Centre's submissions and said secrecy allowed in the electoral bonds scheme "legalises anonymity".
