RaGa's NYAY indicator of 'ANyay' done by Congress to poor: Karnataka BJP spokesperson

MANGALURU: BJP state spokesperson Malavika Avinash on Thursday punched holes in AICC chief Rahul Gandhi’s favourite poll assurance Nyuntam Aay Yojana (NYAY). The scheme is a reflection of the failure of Congress to address the issue of poverty since the party came up with the slogan ‘Garibi Hatao’ in the early 1970s and coming up with the same in 2019 is a reflection that it has failed to address the issue in the last four-odd decades.
Interacting with media here before setting out to campaign for party candidates in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, Malavika wondered if the Congress in coming up with NYAY now had done ‘A’NYAY (injustice) to stakeholders all along since then PM Indira Gandhi first gave the slogan. This is the difference between Congress’ manifesto of which NYAY is a flagship to BJPs Sankalp Patr which shows a roadmap for India, she said.
Noting that the NDA government headed by PM Narendra Modi has touched every strata of society with its 146 schemes over the last five-years, Malavika said the BJP is well aware that it is a mission in progress. “There is a lot more to do and achieve, which we will do so in the next five-years under Modi,” she said adding the ‘Sankalp Patra’ has laid down the roadmap to achieve what needs to be done to ensure a prosperous, progressive India.
Justifying the BJP carrying its mission of re-election on the shoulders of Modi, Malavika said in 2014 Modi was a name as the prime ministerial candidate of the party. But in 2019, he is the ‘mantra’ by which India swears, she said, adding that BJP is campaigning on a strong wicket on the achievements of Modi nationally and achievement of sitting MPs – Nalin Kumar and Shobha Karandlaje, whom the party has re-nominated for these polls.
Welcoming move by the local court in staying a government order that sought to withdraw cases of heinous offences against youth of a particular community involved in Ullaibettu, Malavika said people in this part of the state have not forgotten the politics of appeasement that then CM Siddaramaiah so blatantly followed. Incidentally, present coalition government headed by H D Kumarswamy too is treading on the same path, she averred.
