NOIDA: Residents of Sector 51 have raised concerns about security after a private school in the vicinity allegedly broke open the locks of one of the sector gates.
A security guard of Manav Rachna International School allegedly broke open the locks of Gate No. 8 of the sector without informing the residents’ welfare association (RWA) on Tuesday to enable the installation of a diesel generator via crane into the school complex.
“The gate was forcibly opened by the school from the morning till 7pm, and no security guard was posted by school management. This was a big security lapse for our sector,” said Anil Prakash Ranotra, president of Sector 51 RWA.
The RWA filed a complaint with Sector 49 police station on the matter the same day, a copy of which is with TOI.
“All generators of the school are rented and they change them regularly. During this process, residents face a lot of inconvenience,” Ranotra added. Residents also said that schoolbuses are parked haphazardly at any vacant space in the sector, including roads and lanes, without authorisation.
Schoolbuses also encroach on public spaces in the sector and construction debris left by Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is affecting road repair work, they said. Charanjit Arora, owner of Manav Rachna school, denied the allegations. “No such incident took place,” he said.
Residents also complained that debris left after the construction of a metro station in the area by NMRC on a service road hasn’t been cleared till now, which is hindering road resurfacing work.
“Debris litters the footpaths and the sides of the road, which doesn’t leave much space for motorists,” said RWA general secretary Sanjeev Kumar.
When contacted, Ritvik Singh, junior engineer at Noida Authority, who is in charge of the area, said the debris would be removed soon.
“We will remove the debris before the contractor completes the final layering of the road,” he said.
