\'Heartbeat\' Abortion Bill Headed to Ohio Governor\'s Desk

Ohio lawmakers have passed an anti-abortion rights bill  that's been called  "one of the nation's most restrictive abortion laws." The " Heartbeat Bill " effectively outlaws abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected, which is usually about six weeks into a pregnancy.

It does not make exceptions in cases of rape or incest.

On Tuesday, Ohio's House Health Committee approved changes to the bill, including changing the name to the "Human Rights and Heartbeat Protection Act." It also approved felony penalties for doctors who perform abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected.

Ohio's House of Representatives voted in support of the bill Wednesday, with the Senate following suit shortly after.

Two versions of the bill have already passed through the House and Senate, but they were vetoed by former Ohio Gov.

John Kasich.  The bill is now headed to Gov.

Mike DeWine to sign, which he previously said  he would "absolutely" do  if it ever made to to his desk.

Planned Parenthood promised  Wednesday to file suit against Ohio if DeWine signs the "Heartbeat Bill" into law.
