THOOTHUKUDI
Members of Anti-Sterlite Tamils Federation submitted a petition at the Collectorate here on Thursday seeking permission for carrying out a ‘campaign’ to attract the attention of voters and political parties.
The Federation members, led by coordinator M. Krishnamoorthy, sought permission for holding the campaign on the evening of April 15 at any of the three places given in the petition. They said that they would ask the people to support those parties which were demanding the permanent closure of the plant.
In their petition, they said they would press for their demands, including a special legislation against Sterlite plant, action against those behind the police firing during the riot in Thoothukudi, withdrawal of false cases, tracing of activist Mugilan and construction of a memorial for those killed in the police firing, during the campaign.
