Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has been selected for the Sarvamangala Merit Award, 2019, in the category of ‘excellence in construction’.

The award evaluation committee chose DMRC for the construction of the elevated in-situ balanced cantilever structure near the Ernakulam Junction railway station in the Aluva-Petta corridor of the Kochi metro project.

The cantilever was built at a cost of ₹58 crore. A DMRC statement described it as one of the toughest construction initiatives taken up by it. The project, which took two years and 11 months, was executed without a hitch, thanks to good co-ordination between the railway authorities and S.P. Singla Constructions, Haryana, the contractor, the statement said.

The award, instituted by the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers India, will be presented on May 11 at the 27th annual awards function of the organisation in Bengaluru.
