HYDERABAD: Congress is banking on Rs 6,000 per month minimum income guarantee scheme that covers over 50 lakh people in Telangana, filling up of 34 lakh jobs by March 2020, crop loan waiver, Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers and 33% reservation to women in jobs, state assemblies and the Parliament to turn over a new leaf in its fortunes in Telangana.

The party is confident that 12 per cent Muslim population which voted for Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the assembly elections would shift loyalties and vote for its candidates in Thursday’s poll as it believes it has succeeded in taking the message to Muslims that “a vote to TRS is a vote for BJP”. The party is confident of winning at least 10 of the total 17 seats.

During the month-long campaign, the Telangana Congress had promised to revive the prestigious Information Technology Investment region (ITIR), set up Kazipet rail coach factory, Bayyaram steel plant and a tribal university.

Telangana Congress treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy said anti-incumbency against Modi-led BJP government was visible throughout the campaign. “People are vexed with Modi and are eagerly waiting to save the country from polarisation on communal lines and restore autonomy of institutions like CBI, ED, RBI, among others,” he added.
