Victim locked self in room, called cops

A 33-year-old call centre employee was arrested for allegedly molesting a woman at her house in south-east Delhi’s Amar Colony, the police said on Tuesday.

On April 7, they received a PCR call at 1 a.m. about a woman being molested at her house. A team rushed to the spot and nabbed the accused from the house.

Forced to get physical

Girish Chand from Dwarka was known to the 28-year-old complainant from past one year. On the day of the incident, he had pressurised her to establish physical relations with her. The complainant refused but the accused forced her, the police said. He even threatened to kill her, they added. The victim somehow managed to lock herself in a room and called the police.

“On the complaint of the woman, a case of molestation, threatening and abusing a woman was registered at Amar Colony police station against the accused,” said Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East).

The accused has been sent to judicial custody, the officer added.

The police said the victim from Kathmandu deals in garment export business. Earlier, she had taken a shop on rent at Malviya Nagar and used to sell clothes. During that time, she had come in contact with the accused.
