CSK coasts to 7-wicket win over KKR

Chennai, Thanks to good bowling performance, defending champions Chennai Super kings (CSK) coasted to a seven wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL match here on Tuesday night.

After the bowlers, led by medium pacer Deepak Chahal claimed three wickets inside the power play, big hitting Andre Russell played a lone  furrow with a fighting half century to help KKR score 108 for nine, but it proved to be inadequate as CSK romped home winner by seven wickets.

Chasing a not imposing total, the home team, curtailed its big hitting instincts, relied on singles and twos, with occasional boundaries and sixers, to emerge victor to register its fourth straight win at home and fifth overall to top the table. The home team finished at 111 for three in 17.3 overs.

The win was made quite easier thanks to opener Faf du Plessis (43 not out , 3×4) and Ambati Rayudu (21, 31 balls, 2×4), looking to get his form, adding 56 runs in 9.4 overs to fashion the chase.

Eariler, a three wicket burst by Chahar spelt doom for KKR and assisted by spinners Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir, who picked two wickets each, restricted the KKR total, which was easily overhauled by CSK with 16 balls to spare.
