Just like a Bernese mountain dog, Jon Snow can handle the cold and has a loyal heart
The start of Game of Thrones’ final season is just days away.
Fans are wondering which of their favorite characters will make it to the end of the HBO series alive, and who will sit on the iron throne when the final credits roll.
Some animal-loving Thrones fanatics might also wonder what the show would look like if the entire cast was made up of dogs —at least that’s what we’re wondering.

Thankfully, Rover.com rounded up their team of dog experts to cast a canine version of Game of Thrones based on which breeds best fit the show’s star characters.
Here is what these dog experts envision for a furrier reboot of Thrones.
Jon Snow = Bernese Mountain Dog
The illegitimate child of Eddard Stark, Jon Snow finds himself far north at a wintry wall, protecting his kingdom. Who better to portray the loyal, gentle spirit of Jon than a Bernese mountain dog? Jon’s character lacked for love, and the Bernese temperament often craves extra cuddles, too.
Jaime Lannister = Golden Retriever
That smile. Those wavy, golden locks. At least on a surface level, this handsome soldier, brother of Cersei, and Game of Thrones golden boy totally matches up with a golden retriever. Like a golden, beholden retriever, Jamie is big on loyalty. A breed known for being familial and affectionate, it’s the perfect fit … although we know this particular brother’s affection is a little overboard. And intense. And creepy, which we’d never say about one of America’s most popular dog breeds.
Arya Stark = Boston Terrier
Wide-eyed. Quirky. Constantly underestimated. Arya doesn’t necessarily fit the mold you’d expect. She’s a tiny tomboy with a unique personality, and that’s just the part to be played by a Boston terrier. Despite their size and stature, these independent spirits consider themselves a strong member of the family. If they’re left alone, they grow stubborn and aggressive.
Tyrion Lannister = English Bulldog
A lifetime of being viewed as the little guy has made Tyrion develop a tough hide. What he lacks in stature, he makes up for in sheer determination. Short legs, big attitude, and a history of not backing down? It really goes without saying that our Tyrion is a real bulldog. Once a bulldog sets his mind on something and grabs hold of it, he won’t let go. The bulldog is a stubborn, unyielding force to be reckoned with.
Daenerys Targaryen = Iban Hunting Dog
Daenerys may look youthful, demure, and unassuming, but don’t let that fool you: this woman is a survivor. Emerging from the shadow of her brother and even surviving beyond the life of her warrior husband, she conquers cities and awakens dragons. The Iban hunting dog, or Borneo hound, is a lot like Daenerys. Sometimes called a “pariah dog,” it is a free-ranging animal whose spirit can’t be caged. Like the dragon-nurturing queen of the Andals, this hound is an untamed beauty.
Cersei Lannister = Afghan Hound
Willful, ambitious and cunning … this Lannister will do whatever she needs to remain at the center of the action. Is it any wonder we picked the similarly tempered Afghan hound to inhabit the role of Cersei? In addition to long, wavy locks, Cersei embodies the heart and soul of the Afghan. Dignity and aloofness are marks of their temperament, sociable when needed but generally standoffish.
