OSLO: Norwegian Shipowners' Association on Tuesday committed to work together with Mumbai's Afroz Shah to tackle plastic pollution in oceans and the increasing problem of marine debris.

CEO Harald Solberg said, "We will work together," after commending Shah for his successful and inspiring initiative to clear plastic from Versova beach in Mumbai. Solberg was speaking at the association's annual conference 'Ocean Pioneers' in Oslo.

Addressing a packed hall, UN earth champion, Shah said, "Humans don't live alone on the planet. They share it with other species who, too, have a right to be left alone and not have their habitats polluted.'' India and Norway have for the first time signed an MoU to tackle marine pollution as a three-year initiative between 2019 and 2021. -Swati Deshpande
