Ludhiana: Mohit Kumar, a 30-year-old man from Purana Bazar, has accused his wife Amita and in-laws of thrashing him and his elderly parents after barging into their house in Purana Bazaar. To escape their onslaught, when the man hid in the bathroom, his wife dragged him out by pulling his hair and hitting him on his nose with a heavy metallic item.
Following Mohit’s complaint, Division 4 police on Monday registered a case against Amita, her father Rakesh Kumar Arora, other relatives — Amrish Arora, Honey Arora, Sunny Bhakhri, Vicky Miglani — and seven unidentified accomplices. Mohit, who sells ayurvedic medicines, said he got married to Amita of Jagraon on February 14, 2014, and they had a 4-year-old daughter.
Mohit alleged his wife was short-tempered and used to fight with him and his parents on petty things. On April 5, she indulged in an argument with his mother Vanita. When he intervened, she called up her father, following which her father and brothers, accompanied by other relatives, barged into the house and started thrashing him and his elderly parents.
Further, Mohit added that during the incident, he went live on Facebook, after which his friends rushed to his house. Meanwhile, the accused managed to escape from there. Investigating officer ASI Shamsher Singh said a case had been registered against the accused under sections 452 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault, or wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 427 (mischief, causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly, guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the IPC. The accused are yet to be arrested.
