All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary K.C. Venugopal, MP, has said that words of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders are more venomous than king cobra.
Addressing media persons here on Wednesday, Mr. Venugopal said the comparison of Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency with Pakistan by BJP president Amit Shah was equal to defaming the entire State.
The five-year reign of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had set stage for a series of corruptions, including the Rafale deal, Mr. Venugopal said .The Supreme Court had recently stated that the court would consider a writ application on the issue, Mr. Venugopal said, adding that the approach of the court itself showed that there was evidence of corruption in the deal.
Mr. Venugopal alleged that the evidence of corruption in the Rafale deal — which was exclusively negotiated by Mr. Modi to hand over a ₹30,000-crore contract to industrialist Anil Ambani by sidetracking Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) — was undeniable. There were also evidence of corruption in connection with the note ban, he said.
The farming community in the country was in crisis because of the anti-farmer policies of the government, which had written off crores of rupees of loans of industrialists, he said.
The NDA government had promised that it would create job opportunities for two crore youths in the country, but their condition was worse now since they had lost even existing jobs under the Modi rule, he added.
“When I asked in Parliament to make legislation on the Sabarimala issue to protect the interest of devotees, the government had been silent. But now they have introduced the issue in the election manifesto to fool the voters,” he added.
“The Left Democratic Front rule in the State has given preference to protecting quotation gangs. The government is protecting murderers in the State,” Mr. Venugopal said, adding that the result of the general elections would be an answer for the rude and impertinent rule of the LDF.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi would reach the district for campaigning in a week, AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik said.
Senior Congress leaders, including Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sachin Pilot, and Navjot Singh Sidhu, would also attend campaigning, Mr. Wasnik added.
