Castro has not lost hope of winning Absa Prem title

2019-04-10 10:08

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs forward Leonardo Castro insists the Amakhosi have not given up on winning the league title with five games of the season still remaining.

Chiefs could be as many as 11 points behind Absa Premiership leaders Orlando Pirates after Wednesday's fixtures with the Nedbank Cup now looking like the Amakhosi's best bet to win silverware this season.

Castro said in quotes published by Kickoff: "In my mind, I think we need to be focused on our team.

"We need to take points and obviously it's step by step. Really, I don't feel like this [we've lost hope of a title challenge].

"Something, maybe, is going to happen until the end [of the season], so we need to take each game and try to take the points."

The Colombian also revealed that he is happy to be part of the Kaizer Chiefs squad and has big motivation to continue to do well.

Castro added: "My motivation is that I'm alive and I'm blessed to be part of the Kaizer Chiefs family, so this is my big motivation.

"For the team, the motivation is always there. We all know the [few] games we have left now and, as I said, something can still happen before the end - maybe Sundowns is going to drop points, or Pirates or Wits, so we need to be able to win our matches."

Chiefs' next game will be against Black Leopards on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
