Without alliance country will suffer and not forgive Congress: AAP

NEW DELHI: The country will not forgive Congress and suffer if there is no alliance, said AAP Delhi convenor Gopal Rai when asked if there would be any political loss in Delhi in case the alliance between AAP and Congress does not work out ultimately.
The efforts for AAP-Congress alliance in Delhi are on as the two parties think that together they will be stronger against BJP, which currently holds all seven Lok Sabha seats of Delhi, in the upcoming elections.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Rai said, “Congress is extremely confused about whether it should focus on saving the party or removing the Narendra Modi government. Wherever opposition parties are strong, Congress is trying to weaken them. In UP they are eating into the votes of the grand alliance, in West Bengal Congress is cutting the votes of TMC, in Kerala Congress is cutting the votes of Left.”
AAP has been maintaining that since it has a strong presence in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Goa, Congress-AAP alliance in these places can defeat BJP.
“We want to defeat BJP on 33 seats (13 Punjab, 10 Haryana, 7 Delhi, 2 Goa and 1 Chandigarh). An alliance is formed on the basis of a formula. If the formula (of seat sharing) which was used in Bihar, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu (by Congress) is applied in Delhi then the alliance can be easily formed on all 33 seats. If there is a will for alliance there are many ways, but if they want to help the BJP win, then it is altogether another matter,” Rai said.
He predicted doom for BJP in Delhi and said, “I can say with confidence that BJP has conducted surveys and is losing all seven seats in Delhi. BJP is unable to find candidates,” he said. If there is no alliance there will be a triangular fight in Delhi with BJP, Congress and AAP trying to win all seven seats.
AAP has already announced candidates on all seven seats and they are carrying out extensive campaigning.
Sources in Congress have made it clear that it will not have any alliance with AAP in Punjab and Congress has already announced a candidate for Chandigarh. AAP has offered to support Congress Chandigarh candidate if it gives three seats to AAP in Haryana. But according to sources, Congress is not ready to accept AAP's demands in Haryana. Congress has sought three LS seats in Delhi, which is not acceptable to AAP.
After a period of extensive efforts towards forming an alliance, silence had suddenly fell on the issue. In the last four days, there has been no progress in the matter. No communication has been made to AAP from Congress about an alliance in the last one week.
On last Wednesday, AAP MP Sanjay Singh and Delhi Congress in-charge PC Chako had a meeting about seat sharing which remained inconclusive.
