Lucknow: 6 injured in blast in illegal firecracker manufacturing unit

LUCKNOW: An explosion in an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit in a residential area left six persons injured in Mohanlalganj area on Wednesday.
The blast took place in the basement of the house belonging to one Mohammed Shakeel were high-intensity fire crackers were stored, police said.
The cascading effect of the explosion was such that in few seconds, another house belonging to one Sultan also got damaged while his wife and children sustained injuries.
Teams of Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Lucknow, have collected samples from the spot to ascertain the nature of explosives that caused the blast.
The injured were identified as Mohammed Shakeel (39), his wife Marufa (28), Shakeel's neighbour Sultan (30), his wife Tabassum (26) and his two children- Armaan and Harmaan.
Police said the condition of Shakeel and his wife Marufa was stated to be critical and they were admitted to civil hospital in Lucknow.
Senior superintendent of police Kalanidhi Naithani said the blast took place around 12.45pm. Prima facie it appears that the firecrackers caught fire following a leakage in an LPG cylinder.
