District Election Officer and Collector L. Subramanian on Tuesday inspected the counting centre at the Arignar Anna Government Arts College here. According to a release, electronic voting machines used in the Assembly segments of Villupuram, Tindivanam, Vikravandi, Ulundurpet, Tirukovilur and Vanur would be taken to the strong rooms in the counting centre after polling.
Mr. Subramanian along with District Revenue Officer R. Priya and officials also inspected the arrangements for the safe storage of EVMs and access for candidates’ counting agents.
The DEO directed officials to set up separate centres for each Assembly segment in the complex. A multi-layered security has been put in place. In addition, CCTV cameras will also be installed at the counting centre, he said.
