Sanjay Dina Patil, the Nationalist Congress Party candidate for the Lok Sabha elections, on Tuesday filed his nomination following a motorcycle rally in Mulund.
Speaking to journalists, Mr. Patil said, “The people in this constituency know who to support and who not to. The huge crowd gathered here today has not been hired like the Bharatiya Janata Party does to show its power. These people have come here to support me, because they have trust in me and somewhere feel I will be able to solve their issues.”
Asked what were the important issues in the constituency that he would like to address, Mr. Patil said, “The lack of better medical facilities is one of the major issues Mulund faces. If I get a chance to work here, I will definitely look into this issue. The people who vote deserve the best facilities. Another issue is that of increasing crime in the area. The BJP government has failed to make people feel safe. The BJP and their leaders only know how to rob people and earn money.”
Answering questions on the pressure to win this election, Mr. Patil said, “I don’t think I have to worry about people’s support a lot. The people know who will work for them and that’s why they are here today in huge numbers. I have received support from my party as well as the Congress. Some of my supporters from the Republican Party of India are also here with me. And about the pressure, I just need to remind people that they should exercise their right to vote and choose the best for themselves. The pressure must be on my opposition and not on me.”
