BENGALURU: A 38-year-old dance teacher committed suicide on Tuesday night by hanging himself in his house in Geddalahalli near Sanjayanagar, police said on Wednesday.
Police said they suspect Sandeep K, who was addicted to alcohol, was frustrated over students leaving his classes.
Sandeep was living alone in a rented house owing to differences with his wife, a police officer said. “At one time, Sandeep had 25 students,” he added. “But he was depressed and turned alcoholic. This led to the students leaving and enrolling for dance classes elsewhere. Sandeep was apparently frustrated by the developments.”
Sandeep committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan, police said. A friend found the body when he visited the house around 10.30pm on Saturday and alerted Sandeep’s relatives.
Father files plaint
Sanjayanagar police moved the body to MS Ramaiah Medical College and Hospital. “We have registered a case of suicide based on a complaint by Sandeep’s father,” the officer said. “A probe is under way.”
