‘Good & bad’ on BJP manifesto

The BJP, which released manifesto on Monday, is themed as, “Sankalpit Bharat – Sashakt Bharat” (Determined India, Empowered India). Social media and news channels carried updates throughout the day while Twitter war began among politicians. Free Press talked to Indore residents to know their opinions on BJP manifesto 2019. Excerpts

Government should scrap Article 370 because it hinders growth of the state and it is one of the reasons for increasing terrorism in the state. So, if BJP takes action in this direction, then it would be a landmark step in Indian history.”
Ankur Sodani, Professor (St Paul College)

It is not clear whether it is India’s election manifesto or that of the US. There is no mention of progress of Indian citizens in this. It is an expression of scared political party. BJP has not been able to fulfill even one promise of last election manifesto.
Chinmay Mishra, writer and social activist

Manifesto is nice. It has raised hopes. It was expected from BJP. The manifesto is for everyone weather they are lower class, middle class and upper class people. The BJP has focused on issues like farmers, healthcare, economy.
Kripa Shankar Singh, training and placement officer, Swami Vivekanand Group of Institutes

Tired of scams, intrigues, non-governance, and divisive politics, now let’s make revolutionary correction. It is not that people want a BJP government. It is just that nation wants to teach a lesson to those who have ruined it. So, let’s fight corruption.
Charmee Shah, engineer

Manifesto is average as it does not focus on empowering middle class people. Temple building won’t contribute towards economic development. There should have been focus on sports development. The manifesto looks more of political win. It is not development-oriented.
Viral Dhanote, Indore resident now works in Mumbai

Country’s main concerns corruption, unemployment, law and order, quality education and health are lost somewhere to gain political mileage on construction of Ram temple, loan waiver scheme. The issue, which needs immediate attention should be included.
Shivam Shrivastava, BTech student

There is lack of management, corruption, increase in crime; women are no longer safe, many scams are occurring, religious discrimination is increasing etc. Our country is secular only in words. Problems persist over Ram temple and Babri mosque.
Shivani Shivhare, BSc student  (Medi-Caps University)

If BJP succeeds in implementing manifesto, then development of India will be at its best. Surely, India will become a secure and powerful country as Prime Minister Modi is taking initiatives for nation’s security and welfare.
Vikalp Singh Rajput, mechanical engineer

The manifesto is a big step towards growth of nation, taking the security, integrity and technology to next level. This manifesto is truly for every sector whether its agriculture, public interest or army. BJP government should be given a second chance.”
Aman Yadav, engineering student (Medi-Caps University)

I think one should vote for a party that gives stability and growth, which is driven by a vision. BJP manifesto is appreciable as it project country’s all-round development.”
Pooja Purohit, engineering student
