In a bid to reach non-Telugu speaking voters in Telangana for the Lok Sabha election the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has taken up an innovative campaign by releasing leaflets in nine Indian languages on the initiatives of the TRS government taken up during the last five years.
The schemes include Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, 24Ă—7 power supply to all categories of consumers, Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha, SHE teams, TSiPASS, KCR kits and Hyderabad Metro. The leaflets were being distributed in the localities where there is concentration of people settled from other States both in Hyderabad and elsewhere in Telangana. They were also being distributed as newspaper inserts.
Apart from publishing the leaflets in several languagues, the TRS is also airing advertisements on radio also in multiple languages to reach out to the non-Telugu speaking people. The party has taken to the idea to solicit votes for its Lok Sabha candidates by explaining them about the government’s achievements. According to party functionaries, the innovative steps was helping the party strike a responsive chord with voters who speak other languages.
The party has taken up the inclusive approach keeping in mind that Telangana is a home to people from various Indian states. Apart from the native Hindi and Urdu speaking people, people speaking Tamil, Malayalam, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali and others have made Telangana their home for years. The leaflets in different languages are being shared widely on several social media platforms, party sources said.
Party functionaries stated that similar approach was adopted during the elections to GHMC and also in the recent elections to Assembly to seek the support of non-Telugu speaking voters.
