After the top court dismissed the Centre’s objection claiming privilege over the ‘leaked’ Rafale documents, Opposition parties sharpened their attacks on the Modi government.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi said the SC has “accepted” that “there was corruption in Rafale deal”. Speaking to reporters before filing his nomination papers in Amethi, Gandhi said, “SC has made it clear that ‘chowkidarji’ has committed theft.”

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman hit back: “Rahul Gandhi probably doesn’t read even half a paragraph of the SC order. By saying court said ‘chowkidaar chor hai’, he has verged on contempt of court.”

BSP chief Mayawati asked the PM to “apologise” and demanded the Defence Minister’s resignation.
