G.P. Sakthivel of Singanallur in Coimbatore on Wednesday submitted a petition to K. Periaiah, Inspector General of Police (West Zone), accusing AIADMK’s Erode candidate Venku G. Manimaran of cheating him of around ₹ 40 lakh in a land transaction.
The petitioner said that Mr. Manimaran was the power of attorney for a seven-acre plot, which belonged to three owners. The complainant had paid ₹ 50.50 lakh as advance for the land. The petitioner alleged that Mr. Manimaran sold a part of the land to a third party without informing him. Since the Kangeyam police did not register a case, he approached the IG, the petition said.
