GUNTUR: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked people to be alert about conspiracies hatched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao and YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy against the state and bring the Telugu Desam Party back to power to realise their dreams. He addressed massive turnouts in Piduguralla, Sattenapalle and Tadikonda on Tuesday.
Turning emotional during his public address, Naidu appealed to people not to make any mistake on the polling day as their vote will decide Andhra Pradesh’s future.
Naidu said all ongoing irrigation projects, including the state’s lifeline — Polavaram— will be stopped if Reddy were to be voted to power, as the fate of the projects will be scripted by KCR. Moreover, he alleged that Andhra Pradesh will not get even a drop of water from Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam if TDP was not at the helm of the government.
Dismissing KCR’s support for the special category status for AP, Naidu said KCR has never kept his promises in his life. He drew attention to the fact that KCR had vowed to make a Dalit chief minister once Telangana was formed. But he backtracked after the state was created. KCR had also promised to merge the party with Congress if statehood was granted, but he reneged on his promise and went on to become the chief minister, he said.
Naidu alleged that KCR came out in the open about the SCS for AP just two days before the elections with an intension to support Reddy. “KCR has abused me many times. He referred to me as an idiot. I am least bothered because I know that he is targeting me because I am firm on protecting the rights ofAP . I will never compromise on the interests of the state,” said Naidu.
