District Congress Committee (DCC) president Babu George has accused the District Election Authority (DEA) here of taking a lopsided approach towards the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) by banking on the Left trade unions for various polling related works.
In a complaint filed to the Chief Election Officer, Mr. George said the DEA had intentionally sidelined employees owing allegiance to the Congress in various important poll-related postings. He further alleged that employees attached to the CPI(M)-led trade unions had been given key election posts owing to pressure from the State government with a hidden agenda to manipulate the polling process in favour of the LDF.
Moreover, many employees belonging to Congress unions had already been shifted from the collectorate, Mr. George alleged.
He called upon the Chief Election Officer to intervene and ensure a free and fair polling.
BJP charge
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) too accused the DEA of adopting a partisan attitude. In a statement here on Tuesday, BJP district president Ashokan Kulanada alleged that the CPI(M)-led NGO Union had already hijacked the election works at the Pathanamthitta collectorate.
There were attempts to manipulate postal ballots, he alleged.
Mr. Ashokan accused the pro-left Kerala Police Association of trying to ‘manipulate’ the ballots of the police personnel on election duty.
