My city, where I was born and raised, is going downhill very quickly. Too many problems big and small.
For example, the numerous potholes. Mechanics and dentists are happy about them as they are getting a lot of work due to the city not repairing the numerous potholes on every street. Especially the main drives.
Also, all the road construction all over. Numerous detours, unhelpful detail officers who, instead of looking into the hole being dug, are busy chatting with each other while traffic backs up. I love the police, but they are assigned to the detail for a reason.
Another problem is the drivers in the city. They do not use directional signals, they speed around, cut you off, run red lights, don't stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. My blood pressure increases daily.
Another complaint: jaywalking. I would like to know how many infractions have been written on this violation? You can't drive downtown without numerous people making you stop due to their illegal crossing.
All these problems, combined with a serious lack of leadership in city hall, affects the quality of life of myself and fellow citizens. It's time to hold people accountable. To our police, keep doing a great job with your hands tied. To my fellow citizens, recognize the problem and make some noise. Replace all incompetent leaders with fresh, capable individuals. Together we can bring back our city and a great quality of life.
