PUNE: The Mundhwa police on Monday booked a 22-year-old joblessman for stalking a 17-year-old college girl at Ghorpadi on the evening of March 4.

The girl, a student of Class XI, commerce stream, of a city-based college and the man are known to each other because they were residing in the same area.

The girl and her parents later shifted to some other place.

Assistant inspector Manish Patil of the Mundhwa police said, “The man developed a one-sided love affair with the girl and started stalking her. She lodged an FIR against him after he issued threats to kill her along with her father and brother with a knife.”

He said, “We have booked the suspect under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection to Children from Sexual Offences Act. A police team has launched hunt for arresting him.”

“Investigations have revealed that this is for the second time that the girl had registered an FIR against the man. The girl had earlier lodged a complaint against him at the Cantonment police and had got him arrested for stalking her in 2018. He was later released on bail,” he added.
