'Food for Fines' helps Lee County Library and the publicI'm craig ford. Happening now, its national library week and the lee county library is doing something special to celebrate. Wtva's amanda haley has more on how the library wants to convert fines into a way to help those in the local community. Thanks craig under the program, the library will give people the chance to exchange canned food to help pay off over due book fines this week. All during national library week, if you donate a canned food item to the library you can get a dollar off of your late fees. Anyone with outstanding fees at the lee county library can save some money by cleaning out their pantry. The library charges a dime a day per late book. All canned goods that are gathered are placed in the library's blessing box. Jeff tomlinson, director of the library feels this program benefits both the giver and the receive "it just gives us another moment where we can act as a community to help each other."
