Vellore cash seizure: Police to file FIR against DMK candidate

CHENNAI: Police will file an FIR on the cash seized from the premises of DMK candidate in Vellore Lok Sabha constituency Kathir Anand and another party functionary.
"The Vellore police are waiting to get permission from the local magistrate to file the FIR. The income tax department has sent a report to the Election Commission on the cash seized," said Tamil Nadu chief electoral officer Satyabrata Sahoo.
Last week, the income tax department seized Rs 10 lakh from Anand's residence and Rs 11.53 crore from a cement godown belonging to DMK cadre Poonjolai Srinivasan.
Anand is the son of DMK treasurer S Duraimurugan.
