NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading in the red in Tuesday's morning session.
Shares of
Federal Bank (down 1.60 per cent), Bank of Baroda (down 1.50 per cent), Punjab National Bank (down 1.34 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank (down 1.26 per cent) were trading in the red.
State Bank of India (down 1.09 per cent), IDFC First Bank (down 0.74 per cent), IndusInd Bank (down 0.42 per cent) and Axis Bank (down 0.38 per cent) too were trading lower.
The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.29 per cent down at 29,757.90 around 11:08 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 15.40 points at 11,589.10 while the BSE Sensex was down 31.80 points at 38,668.73.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, SBI, DLF, Bank of Baroda, SAIL, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Ashok Leyland, Indian Oil Corp, Wipro and Bharti Airtel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
