Wardha: On the last day of campaigning, all candidates were doing all possible efforts to turn the mandate in their favour.
Road shows and bike rallies of both main contenders — Congress and BJP — were the main attractions in the constituency on Tuesday.
BJP candidate Ramdas Tadas with actress Amisha Patel drew the attention of public at Selu and Wardha town. Tadas started his road show at around 10am in Selu and another road show in Wardha with a bike rally from Shivaji Square to market area and ended it at Bajaj Square at around 2pm. Comedian Vijay Pawar alias VIP also campaigned for the BJP candidate in Deoli and Pulgaon. He was accompanied by ex-minister Laxmanrao Dhoble.
Congress candidate Charulata Tokas went out with MPCC spokesperson Noori Khan in Ashti. She addressed several meetings in the morning and started a roadshow in Wardha town at 3pm. Congress MLA Amar Kale organized bike rallies in Arvi assembly constituency for Tokas. Dhamangaon Congress MLA Virendra Jagtap also arranged bike rallies in the assembly constituency. “In both the rallies, hundreds of youth took part,” informed Pavan Gosewade, a Congress office-bearer.
After the roadshow, Tadas met party workers in the city, while his main rival and Congress candidate Tokas was busy with a padyatra till 5pm.
Speaking to TOI, Tadas said, “I have addressed 6 rallies today. I am happy with the participation of people. Around 7,000 people participated in Deoli rally, this shows love of the people for me.”
Tokas said, “Where ever I visited today and during the campaigning I felt the anger against the government. People are very unhappy with the ruling dispensation and they were complaining since the first day of campaigning. I am confident that people will vote for me because they want change.”
Meanwhile, district collector and returning officer Vivek Bhimanwar said five complaints of violation of model code of conduct have been registered against four candidates. Two cases of paid news have also been registered against Tadas and one case against Tokas for an objectionable Facebook post. Dnyanesh Wakudkar (Lokjagar Party) and Dhanraj Vanjari of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi too have been booed for their Facebook posts.
