Creative Fan Builds A Working Ford Mustang Hoonicorn V2 From LEGOs

A Lego enthusiast and Ken Block fan has managed to create a detailed model of the rally driver’s famous Ford Mustang RTR Hoonicorn V2 using nothing but Lego Technic parts.

Lachlan Cameron designed and built the vehicle by himself and it actually caught the eye of Ken Block who shared images of the model on Facebook.

Just like the real thing, Cameron’s Hoonicorn V2 model shares its boxy shape with 1965 Mustangs but is adorned in custom parts. For example, flared fenders have been created, a number of different wheel options are available, and the model even features two tiny turbochargers sticking out of the hood like Block’s methanol-fuelled monster.

To say the work put into the vehicle’s interior and exterior was impressive would be an understatement.

Making the Lego Technic Mustang all the more impressive is the fact that it actually features working steering, eight functional lights, in-board suspension, all-wheel drive, electric motors and a working transmission.

Designing and building a functional Lego Technic vehicle from scratch isn’t easy but thankfully for those that want their own example, Cameron is selling instructions on Rebrickable to replicate his creation.

Ken Block’s Hoonicorn V2 was built to allow the rally driver to drift his way up Pikes Peak. Thanks to the car’s twin-turbocharged 6.7-liter V8 engine, the vehicle pumps out 1400 hp at the crank. All of this grunt is sent to the pavement through a custom all-wheel drive system. As far as drifting machines go, it is hard to find anything crazier than the Hoonicorn V2. As far as Lego Technic models go, it’s also hard to find any more impressive than this one.
