Karma Introduces One-Off Revero Black Ocean, Hints At More Customization In The Future

Karma Automotive is gearing up to introduce the 2020 Revero later this month, but the company has just unveiled a limited edition of the current model.

Described as a pre-sold one-off, the Black Ocean Limited Edition is based on one of the “very last original Karma Reveros.” It has more than 80 unique features including a custom paint job and unique interior appointments.

The company was coy on specifics, but we can see the car has a matte black exterior with yellow accents on the air intakes and front fender vents. The yellow theme is also echoed on the Brembo brake calipers which hide behind black alloy wheels.

The decision to unveil the Revero Black Ocean today wasn’t a coincidence as the company introduced the car during a renaming ceremony for its Moreno Valley plant. Now known as the Karma Innovation and Customization Center, the facility will build the 2020 Revero and provide the “ultimate in customization, craftsmanship and technology integration.”

Karma didn’t go into specifics, but suggested future models will offer more personalization options than ever before. The automaker also said the Revero Black Ocean hints at the kind of customized vehicles that it is preparing to offer enthusiasts.

The plant is preparing to build the 2020 Revero which will go on sale in the second half of this year. The model will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show next week and feature an updated design as well as a new powertrain. The latter has a more powerful lithium-ion battery pack, a new twin-motor rear drive unit and a range-extending BMW TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine. This setup will enable the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, which is nearly one second faster than its predecessor.
