The Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) committee brought a paramotor to spread awareness about voting in the district on Monday.
A Bengaluru agency has been asked to fly the paramotor in all five taluks of the district.
The paramotor was launched by SVEEP committee chairman and ZP CEO Vikas Suralkar.
Describing voting a duty, he said the paramotor has been used as a unique way to increase awareness.
Mr. Suralkar said that the agency has been hired at a cost of ₹5 lakh for five days where it will fly over a specific route marked by the officials.
“Everyday, the paramotor will fly for four hours over a different locations mainly covering rural areas,” he said.
He said that as per the direction of Election Commission of India, the SVEEP committee has been using different methods to increase the polling percentage.
He said that the SVEEP committee wishes to increase the voting percentage to at least 70% as the district has been recording lesser percentage over the past elections.
