UGC, USMC Organise Seminar On Future Of Learning

Participants came from various universities of the country were given participation certificates on the occasion

University School of Mass Communication (USMC) of GGSIP University, Delhi in collaboration with University Grants Commission (UGC) organised a two-day symposium on “Future of Learning: Open Education Resources (e-PG Pathshala and MOOCS) for media scholars and academicians in Media and Communication Studies at Dwarka campus on 8th and 9th April. 

The panellists for the symposium were Nupur Basu, an eminent Journalist, focused on social aspects in terms of access and implementation of online education, Dr. Mausumi Bhattacharyya, Incharge, Centre for JMC, Visva Bharti University, (W.B.) and Dr. Diwakar M. Sharma, Director, International Relations, Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada and Dr. Kenneth Werbin, Vice-Dean, FLA- Academics, Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada, addressed the session and discussed about the importance of learning and development of knowledge and how digital technologies should be implemented with proper care and control so that the space for knowledge is not hampered

Dr Anup Beniwal, Dean, USMC, in the inaugural speech stressed that the quest of knowledge is the pre — requisite for research in online mode of learning.

The convener of the symposium, Dr. Durgesh Tripathi, asserted that, "Open Education Resources are useful for everyone across all gender and socio-economic conditions”. Dr. Sachin Bharti, Convener, further added “Equal opportunity in education is a necessity and Open Education Resources can help in fulfilling these necessities in various disciplines”.
