Takes part in roadshows in Kakinada, Rajahmundry

Actor and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has alleged that anti-social elements will rule the roost if the YSRCP voted to power in the State in the April 11 elections.

“It is time to fight the anti-social elements and defeating the YSRCP in the elections to ensure law and order in the State,” he said while addressing a roadshow in Kakinada Rural Assembly constituency on Monday along with the party’s Lok Sabha candidate Jyothula Venkateswara Rao and Assembly candidate Pantam Nanaji.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan said that he received a threatening call in 2006 from the then Kadapa Mayor Ravindranath Reddy. “Those calls made me think about the protection of the common man and to launch Common man Protection Force. The leader who threatened me then is now an active member of the Opposition party,” he said.

Faction culture

Stating that faction culture was not suitable to a place like Kakinada, Mr. Pawan Kalyan advised the people not to invite the factionist forces to rule them. “Law and order is more important and the government should accord top priority to the safety of the people,” he said.

Taking potshots at the TDP’s nominee for Kakinada Lok Sabha Chalamalasetti Sunil and Ramachandrapuram Assembly segment Thota Trimurthulu, the JSP chief alleged that both leaders approached him seeking the JSP ticket. “They wanted to have a final say in the party, which is not suitable to my policy. The YSRCP’s Kakinada Rural candidate Kanna Babu is the man behind the merger of Praja Rajyam Party with the Congress,” he said, wondering why Mr. Kanna Babu was supporting Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, even as the latter expressed his helplessness over the issue of Kapu reservations.

Earlier in the day, addressing a roadshow at Rajamahendravaram, Mr. Pawan Kalyan alleged that the YSRCP was trying to buy votes by distributing money to the public and advised them not to fall prey to the party. “The YSRCP is trying to divide people on the caste lines, which is an unfair practice,” he said.
