‘No sign of forced entry at the house’

A 57-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence in Rohini’s K.N. Katju Marg on Monday afternoon, the police said.

The police said that her jewellery was found missing, adding that they have registered a case and begun a probe.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) S.D. Mishra said that the victim has been identified as Geeta Saxena. Her husband is an autorickshaw driver. “The house help called us and informed us about the incident around 1.30 p.m. When the police reached the spot, the woman was found dead with a cloth tied around her neck,” Mr. Mishra said.

“There was no sign of forced entry. Her gold rings, bangles and chain were missing,” Mr. Mishra said. The victim’s body has been sent for a post-mortem.

The police said that the victim’s husband was not at home when the incident happened. “It is suspected that the murder is a result of a robbery but the case is being investigated from all angles,” said a senior police officer.
