Because of Global Warming, We Could Lose Over 90% of the Glaciers in the Alps by 2100

Researchers think that almost all of the glaciers in the alps could met away by 2100 because of global warming.

????Scientists in Switzerland published their work in the journal The Cryosphere and predicts over 90% of the glacier volume in the alps could be lost in the next 80 years.

????And this is a huge problem for the region since the alps play a large role in the areas ecosystem, landscape and economy.

????The mountain ranges attract tourists and skiers while and also act as fresh water reservoirs.

????While the glaciers act as a water source for wildlife and vegetation as well as for hydroelectricity.

????And unfortunately, even if we manage to stop the climate from warming, glaciers would still lose about 40% of their present-day volume by 2050.

????Researchers say that although the future of the Alps is at risk, there is still the possibility to limit future losses.
