MUMBAI: Former MP Baliram Jadhav is the candidate for the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi-Congress-NCP alliance from the Palghar Lok Sabha constituency.
Jadhav filed his nomination before the Palghar district collector on Tuesday. He will be pitted against the Shiv Sena-BJP candidate and sitting MP Rajendra Gavit.
Jadhav had won the 2009 LS poll with BVA support by defeating late BJP minister Chintamani Wanga.
The BVA has applied for a new symbol after they lost their existing symbol ‘whistle’ to a newly formed Bahujan Maha Party (BMP).
BVA President and Vasai MLA Hitendra Thakur while announcing Jadhav’s candidature said that a new symbol will not change the tide which is in their favour.
