Hero tradesmen held down an intoxicated man who stole a truck and crashed it into a cafe in Sydney on Wednesday morning, until police could arrive to arrest him.
The man allegedly stole a three-tonne truck from a construction site near Martin Place, where the Light Rail is being built, and drove it through a work site on George Street just after 2am before hitting a cafe.
Police say the 33-year-old crashed into the front window of Regiment CBD before attempting to drive away - but construction workers who had witnessed the bizarre incident gave chase.

The construction workers allegedly ran after the truck and were able to remove the man from the vehicle and keep him in place until police arrived.
Officers arrested the Queenscliff man and breath-tested him. He returned a positive reading and was taken to Sydney Hospital for blood tests.
Following the tests, the man was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with reckless driving, driving with a disqualified licence, taking and driving a car without the consent of its owner, and low range drink driving.
