Jipmer takes eighth spot in NIRF ranking

Pondicherry University ranks 48 among varsities

Jipmer takes the 8th spot, down two ranks from the previous year, among medical colleges in the latest rankings of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, released on Monday.

According to the NIRF 2019 rankings released in Delhi by President Ram Nath Kovind, Pondicherry University and Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth are also among the top 100 ranked universities.

Better placed

Pondicherry University ranked 48 among varsities and secured an overall ranking of 72. This year’s ranking marks an improvement over the previous year’s NIRF ranking of 59.

The SBV, which administrates the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, was ranked 72 among universities.

The Pondicherry Engineering College was ranked 76 among engineering colleges while the Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Postgraduate Studies was ranked 49 among colleges in the country.

The parameters were broadly classified under ‘Teaching, Learning & Resources’, ‘Research and Professional Practice’, ‘Graduation Outcomes’, ‘Outreach and Inclusivity’ and ‘Perception’.
