‘Kumaraswamy is unfit to hold the post of Chief Minister’

The former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has strongly criticised Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy for not conveying to the Union government the prior information he had about the Pulwama incident.

Reacting to the reported statements of Mr. Kumaraswamy, Mr. Shettar sought to know from him why had he kept quiet all these days.

“Mr. Kumaraswamy holds a responsible position and he did not bring to the notice of the Union government the information he had about the Pulwama incident. If what he has said is true, then he should be treated as accused number one and a case should be booked against him,” he said and added that “Mr. Kumaraswamy is unfit to hold the post of Chief Minister.”

Mr. Shettar, who was here to campaign on behalf of BJP candidate Y. Devendrappa, was responding to questions from presspersons at Siriwar village in Ballari taluk on Monday.

On the elections to the Lok Sabha, Mr. Shettar said with confidence that a powerful wave in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was blowing across the country and the BJP would win around 300 seats. The National Democratic Alliance will get a two-third majority, he added.

“The wave in favour of Mr. Modi is so powerful that it would help the development of the country, while at the same time demolishing the claims of the Opposition parties,” he observed.

The former Chief Minister, referring to the political developments among the coalition partners, said that it will go in favour of the BJP and his party will win around 22-24 seats in the State.

“There has been infighting between the coalition partners and their workers have been indulging in fisticuffs at meetings. In Mysuru, Congress workers have been raising pro-Modi slogans. This apart, Mr. Kumaraswamy was restricted to Mandya and struggling to get his son elected in a tough fight being given by Independent candidate Sumalatha,” he said.

To a question, he said that the coalition government in the State would collapse immediately after the elections to the Lok Sabha.

“The coalition government should have fallen earlier because of the lack of coordination among the partners. Now, after the Lok Sabha elections are announced, the government will fall with either the Congress backing off or Mr. Kumaraswamy himself quitting,” he said.

Mr. Shettar, to another question, said that there was no need for the BJP to carry out Operation Lotus as after Mr. Modi becomes Prime Minister once again, a lot of developments will take place.
