Teacher suspended for ‘harassing’ girl students
Varanasi: A teacher of government primary school in Baria area of Ballia district was suspended on Monday for allegedly sexually harassing the girls of Class IV and V. An FIR was registered against the teacher at Bairia police station. The accused is absconding.

According to reports, the teacher Arvind Kumar of Chakia primary school-2 in Bairia area, allegedly used to show obscene video clips on his mobile phone to girls and also indulge in indecent activities with them. Many girls refused to go to school due to the alleged indecent behaviour of the teacher.


Following the complaint of students, the villagers went to school on Monday. However, Arvind fled from the scene. Headmaster Kripa Shankar Chauhan informed the matter to the higher authorities.


District basic shiksha adhikari Santosh Kumar Rai told TOI that the teacher was suspended with immediate effect after the charges against him were prima facie found to be true. Block education officer of Revati Awdhesh Kumar Rai has been asked to investigate the matter and submit the report in 15 days.


On the complaint of villagers the police have lodged an FIR against the absconding teacher. He was booked under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
