What the people think about their sitting Member of Parliament:
Anil Hebbar, Activist
“The main issue is the dumping of solid waste in Deonar, Kanjur Marg and Mulund. All solid waste of Mumbai dumped in one constituency. In spite of agitations, meeting of CM, the constitution of the committee, nothing much has happened from the govt side except the order to societies to segregate their waste. Groundwater gets contaminated in rains, smoke causes TB and cancer, Shivajinagar Mankhurd is a hell hole. Excessive traffic jams on LBS road due to some work or the other. Redevelopment of slums is a major issue with the sword of demolitions always hanging on the head of the poor. No basic amenities in the slums. Lack of drinking water in slums leading to exploitation by tanker mafia. Ill-maintained Deonar abattoir leading to bad odour, excessive flies with the resultant diseases. Poor healthcare facilities and schooling for those in the lower income group. Toll at Mulund needs to be abolished as it leads to traffic jam, wasted fuel, wasted time, lesser productivity. Current MP Kirit Somayya does little than carry tape in his pocket measuring railway platforms. Of course, that is an important issue but not the only issue. Redevelopments should be done in-situ by the residents and government organisations and not by private builders. Mangrove/wetland protection is another important issue as government wants to grab it in the name of poor housing,” Anil Hebbar, activist.

“North East MP Kirit Somaiyya was mostly busy in political stunt. Many of the issues in North East Loksabha are unaddressed. In Mulund at all political places BJP is placed still BMC Hospital is not fully functional. As a MP he did look into this issue. Agrawal Hospital (BMC) at times one of the best support for Mulund, Bhandup residents on health issues. His arrogant behavior with hawkers was seen by all the Maharashtra. Still hawkers issues nearby station have not been addressed. At some places like St.Pius road police patrolling doesn’t happen in the night. Women feel unsafe to go from such roads in the night,” Kanishk Jadhav, Mulund resident.

“No proper management in Government Hospital (Agarwal Hospital). No work for poor class people like toilet drainage (hanuman pada mulund, mankhurd govindi). No proper step to stop drugs and alcohol in govandi area. No proper playground for children. Unwanted construction goes on forest land it will repeat kerla disaster. Poor performance,” Karthik Mohan, Mulund resident.
